Does the reader read the story? Or does the story read the reader?
Come read along and join in the discussion to find out for yourself how your experience affect your interpretations in the context of literary work.
Join Pat Andres of People’s & Stories for a magical session that is guaranteed to give you so great insight and much fun. Pat will be reading aloud, a short meditative piece by a twentieth-century Japanese author while you read along with the copies provided. After the reading, Pat will lead a discussion demonstrating that the story reads the reader as much as the reader reads the story since many different interpretations, based on the listeners’ life experiences, are shared. This will be a very enjoyable way to get to know others in the context of examining poetic literary works.
Peoples & Stories is a nonprofit organization, that brings Spanish and English short stories by classic and contemporary writers to underserved populations in jails, libraries, veterans’ facilities, homeless shelters, half-way houses, senior centers, and more.
